2-Isocyanatoethyl methacrylate 99% CAS No. 30674-80-7
2‑Isocyanatoethyl Methacrylate is a bifunctional monomer. Its molecule contains both isocyanate groups (-NCO) and methacrylic carbon-carbon double bonds, whose reactions are independent of each other:
- The -NCO group can undergo addition reactions with hydroxyl, amino and mercapto groups.
- The methacrylic double bond enables UV photocuring / free-radical thermal polymerization, realizing two-step reaction and dual curing.
1. Synthesis of polyurethane acrylate resins: the primary application. Used for end-capping and graft modification to produce UV-curable resins.
2. Adhesives and coatings: improves adhesion to substrates including metals, glass, plastics and PCBs, and enhances water resistance, solvent resistance and weather resistance.
3. Intermediate for polymer modification: grafted onto various polyols and polymers to introduce photocrosslinkable sites.
4. Others: crosslinking agents for specialty resins and organic synthesis intermediates.
25kg/barrel
Store in a sealed, dry and cool place. Keep away from water, alcohols and amines, as NCO groups will hydrolyze upon contact with water.
It is irritating. Inhalation or skin contact may cause injury. Protective equipment is required during handling.
A small amount of BHT polymerization inhibitor is normally added to prevent self-polymerization.
