Lanthanum Fluoride CAS 13709-38-1
White powder, density 5.936. Melting point 1493℃, boiling point 2330℃, insoluble in water, difficult to dissolve in hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and sulfuric acid, but soluble in perchloric acid. Hygroscopic in air, more stable.
Used for preparing scintillator, rare earth crystal laser material, fluoride glass optical fiber and rare earth infrared glass required by modern medical image display technology and nuclear science. It is used to manufacture arc lamp carbon electrode in lighting source. Used in chemical analysis to manufacture fluoride ion selective electrodes.
