Properties:
It is a water-soluble polymer compound. The commercial form of sodium polyacrylate has a relative molecular mass as small as a few hundred and as large as several tens of millions. Its appearance is a colorless or pale yellow viscous liquid, gel, resin or solid powder, easily soluble in water. Due to different degrees of neutralization, the pH of the aqueous solution is generally 6-9. Can be ionized, with or without corrosiveness. Easily soluble in sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, but in the aqueous solution of calcium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide and other solutions, with the increase of the number of alkaline earth metal ions, first dissolved and precipitated. Non-toxic.
Applications:
1. Water treatment agent-flocculant
Sodium polyacrylate is a linear, soluble polymer compound. The carboxyl groups on its molecular chain cause the polymer chain to stretch due to electrostatic repulsion, which promotes the exposure of functional groups with adsorption to the surface. The active point is adsorbed on the suspended particles in the solution, forming a bridge between the particles, thereby accelerating the sedimentation of the suspended particles.
2. Sodium polyacrylate flocculant is a high-molecular material that is particularly suitable for use in the caustic soda and soda ash industries for saltwater refining, red mud sedimentation and separation of alumina production, monosodium glutamate plant protein recovery and sugar production.
3. Paper chemicals
Paper chemicals as dispersants on paper coatings. The most suitable relative molecular mass is
2000-3000. Commodity form is generally 30% or 42% solids. The viscosity is less than 600mPa.s. Appearance is colorless and transparent to amber liquid. The pH is between 6-9.
